Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed officials of the Civil Supplies Department to ensure timely supply  of nine commodities under the “Amma Hastham” in ‘Logo packets’  with proper care to the consumers.

Amma Hastham is intended to touch 2.25 crore families  through 44,000 fair price shops in the State.

The Chief Minister directed Chief Secretary P K Mohanty to ask the District Collectors to send details of previous month’s distribution status and present stock position at every fair price shop. He said distribution position must be monitored on a daily basis online by Joint Collectors and Civil Supplies Officials jointly. He asked the CS to hold a video conference with Collectors, Joint Collectors, Civil supply officials at an early date.

The Chief Minister also directed that stock position in fair price shops may be displayed at Gram Panchayat Office and Tahsildar’s Office on a regular basis. The Chief Minister asked the joint collectors/RDOs to visit fair price shops regularly and send monthly reports to the government.

At the review, the officials informed that a total of 18 crore packets are being positioned against the notional allotment of 19 crores for distribution in June. More number of suppliers and supplies are planned for June and July. It is proposed to ensure “Amma Hastham” distribution from July 1 to 15 along with rice.

They also informed that there was an increase in demand for various commodities after the introduction of “Amma Hastham” scheme. Before “Amma Hastham” in March, the consumption of ‘Redgram Dal’ was 2,000 MTs ( 20 lakh packets) only, whereas in June, there were indents for about 10,000 MT  (1 crore packets). Same was the case in respect of Wheat, Atta and Sugar. In March, the demand for Wheat and Wheat Atta was 1500 MTs (15 lakh packets) only, whereas in June, it was for 20,000 MTs (2 crore packets) and for Sugar, the demand is 2.15 crore packets after conversion into packets and in March, it was loose supply of 9,700 MTs (one lakh 94 thousand packets) only.

The Chief Minister has agreed for purchase of 439 computers in all mandal level stock points in view of huge transactions and also agreed to engage one Godown Assistant for  410 MLS points as the  work load increased substantially.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to open more number of “Rice Selling Counters” for market intervention in addition to the existing counters at all Rythu Bazars, Rice Millers’ points and see that the prices of rice came down.
