The low pressure area formed over northwest Bay of Bengal has further intensified into a well-marked low pressure area and lay over South Coastal Odisha on Thursday. With the southwest monsoon active over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places over Rayalaseema.
According to the Cyclone Warning Centre officials, isolated heavy rain is expected at some places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Nalgonda districts during the next two days. The present weather conditions would prevail for another 48 hours, resulting in moderate to heavy rain across the state, particularly in Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Fishermen venturing into the sea, have been told to be cautious.
Over the last 24 hours, rain continued to batter many places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and also a few places in Telangana and Rayalaseema regions respectively. The highest rainfall of 7 cm was recorded at Sompeta in Srikakulam district and Parvatipuram in Vizianagaram district. Mandasa and Veeraghattam in Srikakulam district and Macherla in Guntur district received 6 cm rainfall each.
