The opposition parties including the Telugu Desam stalled the proceedings of the Assembly over Telangana state for the fourth successive day on Friday without transacting any business.

Seeing the united stand of the opposition parties on the demand for creation of Telangana state,  Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar after the two adjournment motions of 30 minutes each finally adjourned the House without taking up any business and announced that the House will meet on Monday. The House functioned for less than 10 minutes.

With opposition parties giving a call for ‘Chalo Assembly’, major parts of Hyderabad city remained  like fortress for most part of the day causing untold hardships to the people and motorists.

As soon as the session began, Speaker after disallowing the adjournment motions given by the political parties on various issues, TRS sporting black T-shirts, TDP Telangana Forum in yellow Kanduvas rushed to the Speaker’s podium holding placards and raised “Jai Telangana” slogans even as Speaker repeatedly appealed to them to let the House transact regular business listed for the day.

BJP and CPI too joined the TRS and TDP members in the Well and demanded that Parliament immediately pass a Bill for creation of Telangana state.

Following the uproar in the House, the Speaker adjourned the House for half-an-hour at 9.05 am. When the House re-assembled at about 10.04 am, the opposition members again rushed to the Speaker’s podium and started raising slogans against the government over the Telangana issue. The Speaker tried in vain to convince the agitating members. However, the opposition members continued the slogan-shouting.

The TRS, BJP and TDP (Telangana Forum) parties demanded that the House adopt a resolution on  Telangana state. They also raised slogans over the detention of large number of people across the Telangana region.
