Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu said his party senior leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao left out of frustration over his political future.
In an informal chat with reporters on Saturday, Naidu said he had assured Dadi and his family members about their political future. “The entire family of Dadi called on me during my padayatra in North Coastal districts. I assured them that they would be accommodated in a suitable manner. But, of out of frustration over his future, Dadi left the party,” Naidu said.
The TDP chief, however, said though seniors like Dadi left the party, ordinary workers are with TDP and keeping the party flag high. “When Chengala Venkatrayudu left the party, the workers stayed with TDP. Even in Dadi’s own segment, 95 percent of the workers are with the TDP,” Naidu said.
Asked about some leaders planning to join TDP from TRS, Naidu said several leaders are willing to join the party.
Asked about reports on Karnataka Assembly elections that the mandate was likely against the corrupt BJP, Naidu said he observed during his 208-day padayatra that the people in the state too were against corruption. There was strong anti-incumbency feeling over the ruling Congress. “Some leaders may have vested interests to join corrupt parties. But, the people of the state are worried about their future and decided to teach corrupt parties a lesson,” Naidu averred.
At a press conference, Naidu demanded that the state government constitute special teams to know the whereabouts of Chinna Somanna, CEO of Krishnagiri single window society in Kurnool district. Though single window chairman Brahmananda Reddy, a close aide of Union minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, abducted Somanna, the government did not initiate any action, he said. Naidu said the children of Somanna would be admitted to NTR Model School here.
