

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has asked civil supplies officials to ensure one-month stock of the nine essential commodities, which are to be distributed to 2.25 crore beneficiaries under the Amma Hastam scheme, with ration shops.
Reviewing the scheme at a meeting with civil supplies minister D Sridhar Babu, commissioner Sunil Sharma, AP Civil Supplies Corporation managing director Varaprasad, special secretary to the chief minister N Sridhar here on Tuesday, he said that for the first time in the country ration card holders were being given so many essential commodities.
He asked the officials to work with dedication and see that there was no compromise on quality or quantity of the commodities. Joint collectors should personally monitor the stocks and submit detailed reports to the chief secretary, he said. He asked the chief secretary to immediately convene a meeting with the sugarcane commissioner and cooperative sugar factory management to ensure supply of the required 10,750 tonnes of sugar.
Officials said they were monitoring the supply of essential commodities and tenders would be called for supply of the goods in future. Tata Consultancy was entrusted with the task of third-party verification, they said.
