“Though rains occurred at several places across the state, the cyclonic storm Mahasen has no impact on the coast. The rains occurred due to cumolonimbus clouds formed over various places including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Srikakulam and several other places,” said officials of the Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam.

The cyclonic storm ‘Mahasen’ which was over southeast Bay of Bengal, has moved slightly northwestwards and lay centered at about 750 km southeast of Chennai. The Met authorities stated that the system would move initially northwestwards during the next 36 hours and recurve thereafter northeastwards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar. The officials said that the system is weakening and is likely to weaken further before its landfall along the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.

The highest maximum temperature of 46 degree celsius was recorded at Rentachintala on Sunday. On Monday, rain or thunder showers are likely occur at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema. Heatwave is likely to continue in Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, Chittoor and Kurnool over the next 48 hours.
