Sharmila vows to fulfil YSR promises

YSR Congress (YSRC) leader Sharmila has announced that her party will work for fulfillment of all the promises made by her father and former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy for the uplift of the poor. The Maro Praja Prasthanam walkathon of Sharmila concluded in Khammam district on Wednesday.

Interacting with villagers during the Rachabanda programme at Gangaram village, Sharmila announced that YSRCP will work for fulfillment of YSR promises to the poor.

The people of Kommepalli village said they had agreed to part with their lands to Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) for open-cast mining on the assurance of the then chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy during a meeting at Sattupalli but SCCL and the Revenue officials were forcing them to leave the village without providing facilities.

Responding to this, Sharmila asked the villagers not to leave the village and promised to fight until they were allotted a suitable place under the rehabilitation package. She also said that she was ready to go on fast if required in connection with the rehabilitation issue.

Sharmila recalled that YSR had provided 100 per cent fee reimbursements to students but the Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress government was paying only 20 per cent free reimbursements and forcing students to pay rest of the fee on their own. On severe power cuts in the state, she said that small traders were facing too many hardships due to power cuts.
