The first phase of Direct Transfer of LPG subsidy directly into the Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts of LPG consumers under the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme will be launched in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Chittoor, Anantapur and East Godavari districts on June 1.
The LPG consumers, who have not yet linked their Aadhaar number to the bank account and LPG consumer number, will be given a grace period of three months from June 1 till August 31 this year.
According to a press release issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI), LPG consumers who have not linked their Aadhaar number to the bank account and LPG consumer number will continue to get the subsidised cylinder during the grace period and thereafter subsidy amount will be credited to their Aadhaar-linked bank account.
The LPG consumers who have linked their Aadhaar number to their bank account and LPG consumer number will get the subsidy within four days of booking the first LPG cylinder and they will have to purchase the LPG cylinder at the prevailing market price using the advance subsidy.
The second lot of subsidy amount thereafter will be credited into the bank account on receipt or delivery of the first cylinder.
The consumer will get subsidy for a maximum number of of nine cylinders in a year and after the grace period is over the consumers will have to purchase the LPG cylinder at the prevailing market price. Both the processes will continue parallel for the period of three months in these districts.
Consumers can check their Aadhaar status on the UIDAI web portal and through the Mee Seva facility and once their Aadhaar number is generated, consumers can download e-Aadhaar.
