The ‘fixing syndrome’, which has till now been limited to sports, particularly cricket, has now affected politics also, claims the YSR Congress Legislature Party while demanding a law to arrest the worrying trend on the lines of the one central government was contemplating addressing the ‘fixing’ problem in sports.

In a press release here on Thursday, the YSRCLP said that like match-fixing and spot-fixing in cricket, ‘political fixing’ and spot-fixing were happening in politics too, with Telugu Desam chief indulging in such activities.

Accusing Chandrababu Naidu of resorting to ‘political fixing’ with the Congress, it said the TDP chief had even indulged in spot-fixing on various occasions and cited the whip issued to the party MLAs during the no-confidence motion against the government moved by all opposition except the TDP.

It said that whenever the ruling party made mistakes, it was duty of the main opposition party to point out those mistakes and confront the government but, unfortunately, the TDP had forgotten its role as the main opposition party. Instead, the TDP chief had been supporting the Congress misrule so as to escape from IMG Bharath, Emaar, liquor syndicate, disproportionate assets and other cases.

The YSRCLP claimed that TDP MPs had resorted to spot-fixing by abstaining from voting on FDI in the Rajya Sabha and questioned how it found Kiran Kumar Reddy acceptable as chief minister when it had vociferously opposed his becoming the Assembly speaker when YSR was chief minister. It also questioned the silence of Chandrababu Naidu on Kiran and his brothers’ alleged ‘corruption’ to amass wealth and acting as extra-constitutional forces.

It also wondered as to why Naidu had not condemned the chief minister’s description of him as ‘Nadaka Mitrudu’ (walker friend) in the Assembly during his speech on ‘no- confidence motion’. It teremd  those and other instances as political and spot fixings.
