UoH, BSNL join hands to offer new course in Telecom Tech & Mgmt

Post-graduate diploma in Telecom Technology and Management (PGDTTM), a first of its kind course being offered jointly by the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) was launched here on Tuesday at the Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC).

Post-graduate diploma in Telecom Technology and Management (PGDTTM), a first of its kind course being offered jointly by the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) was launched here on Tuesday at the Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC).

A course of two semesters duration being offered in a distance mode, will commence from February next.

The programme is open for engineering graduates in electronics and post graduates in electronics, IT and computer technology.

The course is an interdisciplinary mix of management and technology and it enables organisations to achieve technical, operational and managerial excellence.

‘’The public sector has got so much to offer and have experts with a wide variety of skills. So far training in BSNL has been limited to in-house. Now, with a tie-up with the University of Hyderabad, an attempt is being made to offer those expertise to the student community and also personnel from different telecom firms to upgrade their skills,’’ KCGK Pillai, director (Finance), BNSL Board, said at the launch of the course.

The National Academy of Telecom and Finance Management (NATFM), an apex level management institute of BSNL will be the nodal interface for co-ordination and delivery of the course.

Emphasising the need for change in teaching methodology, vice-chancellor of UoH Ramakrishna Ramaswamy said ‘’We started today, lets go forward.’’

UoH pro-chancellor E Hari Babu, director of centre for distant education and virtual learning S Jeelani, BSNL AP Cricle CGM K Srinivas, NATFM CGM N Kalyan Sagar also spoke.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was exchanged between UoH and BSNL.

Brochures pertaining to the course and three other certificate courses - Finance for non-finance personnel, tax obligations for individuals and enterprises and certificate in accounting technician, being offered at NATFM were released on the occasion.
