Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught assistant director of agriculture VP Sudhakar at his office in Vijayawada on Monday while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a fertiliser company official, Thota Phani of FACT Ltd, for allowing sale of MOP fertiliser at a higher rate.
Second conviction for PCB engineer
B Raghavendra Rao, senior environmental engineer, Task force, AP Pollution Control Board, Hyderabad, has been convicted and sentenced to undergo a rigorous imprisonment for a period of three years and to pay a fine of `25,000 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Special judge for SPE and ACB Sudha pronounced the judgment on Monday.
The accused had been convicted in another corruption case in the past and sentenced to undergo imprisonment for two years and six months, and also to pay a fine of Rs 2,000.
