Rahul aide finds Telangana stir intense

The state government might have foiled the Chalo Assembly rally on Friday by detaining Telangana activists, but the votaries of separate state appear to have sent a message to Delhi that the T-movement is very much alive.

AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s representative and party general secretary Madhusudan Devram Mistry, who was in Hyderabad to gather party leaders’ opinions, is learnt to have acknowledged the seriousness of the issue, when he interacted with state party leaders at the Lake View guest house.

“I never thought that the agitation for Telangana statehood was so intense,” Madhusudan Mistry was quoted as saying.

The AICC point man could not even venture out to visit Gandhi Bhavan, the party state headquarters, following unprecedented security arrangements in place.

PCC functionaries told him that he could not go out as the situation in the state capital was surcharged on Friday. They urged him to hold the scheduled one-on-one meetings with DCC presidents at the Lake View guest house.

Taken aback by this, Rahul Gandhi’s envoy enquired about the intensity of the Telangana movement and wanted to enquire about the response to the Chalo Assembly call given by the TJAC.
