With less than a week to go for the Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET) for admission to B.Tech/BE/B.Arch courses, aspiring students in the state are still unclear about additional pointers to be followed for preparation.
The added topics to be covered by students of Intermediate for the exam have not yet been released nor have junior colleges come out with any specific test materials, students claim.
The ‘bridge course’, specifying the difference in syllabus of the AP state board and the national syllabus followed by CBSE for designing the ISEET question paper, was scheduled to be released by mid-March for those appearing for the main JEE or ISEET on April 7. However, efforts will come to naught as the syllabus guide will be available to students only after completion of the examination.
“The bridge course will only outline the syllabus and topics to be covered additionally by students appearing for the examination next month. It will be released by the end of April mostly,” said an official from Education Research and Training Wing of the Board of Intermediate Education.
He added that the revised textbooks for Intermediate second year for MPC and BPC streams, published by the Telugu Akademi, were released earlier this week to help students appearing for the examination in 2013 as the textbooks are usually released in May. However, the new books will be available in the market only by June, in effect benefiting those appearing for the national-level entrances in 2014.
The exam for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS and BDS has been scheduled for May 5. The set pattern of examination conducted by corporate junior colleges and coaching classes has left students flummoxed, owing to the marked differences between the syllabus followed for EAMCET and ISEET.
“Only top 1.5 lakh students will be selected for the advanced JEE for IIT and tests we have been practicing are those designed for AIEEE previously. The competition is tough and we being the first batch will suffer consequences,” said J.Abhay, one of the 14 lakh students who have applied for the examination to be held on April 7 in the off-line mode.
