Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah (Jangaon), working president N Uttam Kumar Reddy (Huzurnagar) and campaign committee chairman C Damodara Rajanarasimha (Andhole), and former deputy speaker M Bhatti Vikramarka (Madhira) have been renominated by the Congress to contest from the same Assembly constituencies they represent now.
According to AICC leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, the party leadership has decided to accommodate TJAC leaders in the list for Assembly polls. For instance, Gajjela Kantham and Addanki Dayakar aswell as Osmania University Student JAC leaders Krishank and Daruvu Ellanna have found place in the list.
Of the 110 Assembly candidates, 47 are in the general category which works out to 43 per cent of the 110 seats.
“Five candidates are from minority sections whereas 20 belong to SC, nine to STs and 29 to BCs,” he said.
He also released a list of 16 candidates for Lok Sabha polls in Telangana. All the three Union ministers _ S Jaipal Reddy, Sarve Satyanarayana and Porika Balaram Naik _ have been renominated.
Jaipal Reddy, who is representing Chevella LS constituency, will contest from Mahbubnagar while Sarve Satyanarayana will seek re-election from Malkajgiri (SC) and Balaram Naik from Mahbubabad (ST). Former minister P Sabita Indra Reddy’s son Karthik Reddy has been nominated for the Chevella seat.
The party also renominated G Vivekananda, who as returned to the Congress from TRS, to contest the Peddapalli LS seat. Khammam LS seat and nine Assembly seats are allotted to the CPI.
