Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) has once again reiterated that it has no political ambitions but will play the role of a ‘Watch Dog’ for the good of Telangana people.

Participating in a ‘Meet The Press’ programme organised by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) here on Saturday, TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram, other leaders Devi Prasad, Mallepally Lakshmaiah and Vittal said that they will be in an advisory role and if need be a pressure point on the government to ensure that it does not deviate from the public governance.

They made it clear that they do not hold any political ambitions as such, but are more interested in ensuring whatever party that forms the government will do justice to the several aspects in Telangana that were neglected for long.

TJAC leaders said a panel of experts from Telangana will be set up to study the election manifestos of all the parties, more so of the one that will form the government. ‘’We will see to it that whatever the party that comes into power has promised in the election manifesto, it implements them. Till date, we have seen the election manifestos after elections become just ornamental pieces. We do not want it to happen any longer,’’ they said.

Asked as to what party they are supporting, TJAC leaders said that they are neither for nor against any party. ‘’But, we do call the people of Telangana to shun the anti-Telangana parties like YSRC and TDP, which had openly opposed Telangana formation,’’ Mallepalle Lakshmaiah said.

On TRS not only admitting people like Konda Surekha, who the TJAC described as Telangana betrayers but also giving them party tickets to contest the elections, Kodandaram said TJAC can only bring moral pressure on the political parties. ‘’We will leave it to the wisdom of that party leadership,’’ Mallepalle added.

On being pointed out different parties approaching TJAC for its support for them in the elections, TJAC leaders said a decision on that issue will be taken in TJAC’s steering committee meeting shortly.

Asked about TJAC’s view on TDP-BJP alliance, they said it too will be discussed in the steering committee meeting.
