Locate Your Polling Station Online, Know Everything Else

People can verify their names on voters lists and know the booth-level officer and other details through State Election Commission’s Web-based Geographic Information System (GIS)

In a bid to provide more information about the location of polling stations, booth-level officers, voters lists through Internet, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has adopted a new technology for his website www.ceoandhra.nic.in.

The website has been provided with a WebGIS (Web-based Geographic Information System).

All one needs to do is to enter the website www.ceoandhra.nic.in and press the tab “know your PS/BLO - Polling Station Locator” for displaying interactive maps online. Zoom to your Assembly constituency. There will be blue dots, which are polling stations.

If you zoom further, you will see the polling station number. Choose your polling station and double click it.

On the left side of the screen you will get the information about the constituency, polling booth, location, building, booth level officer with name, photo and mobile address.

Most importantly, there will be a tab for voters list under particular polling station. One needs to double click on the voters list tab and a list of voters will be displayed, which can be used to verify whether one’s name is there are not.

Speaking to mediapersons on Tuesday, Bhanwarlal said as many as on March 18, the total electorate in the state stood at 6,29,99,756 as against 6,23,85,953 voters at the time of final publication of electoral rolls on January 31, 2014. Aa many as 9,15 lakh voters have applied during the special campaign held on March 9.

Total number of applications pending as on March 18 for enrolment were 2,75,363, he said.

The CEO said people who have not found their names in the voters list and new voters can enroll till March 30 in Telangana and till April 9 in Seemandhra region.

He said that as many as 911 flying squads, 899 check-posts, 1,143 model code of conduct implementation teams are deployed to ensure that no poll code violations happen and no money is transported for distribution among voters. He said that in case there are any irregularities with flying squads, check-posts personnel or special teams, people can inform about the same to the CEO’s office on toll free number 1950, which works round the clock.

Necessary action will be initiated after inquiring into the matter, he said.

On fake voters and duplication of voters’ names, he said complaints to that effect were received from Kurnool and to an extent from Hyderabad and they were dealing with the issue. He said 95-99 percent of the voters list is fool proof.

Asked about withholding municipal election results till the general polls are over, he said there has been no reply to the request from the ECI.
