Lack of proper industrial development in the constituency has resulted in large scale unemployment, which has forced youth to migrate to Gulf countries to eke out a livelihood. But, even in the Gulf, conditions are not favourable and those who have migrated are facing problems.
Now that Telangana has been delivered, the issue cannot be used to the divert the voters from the real issues plaguing the constituency. The voters want the problems of employment, drinking water and sanitation to be addressed at the earliest.
Issues pertaining to Gulf victims will have a profound impact on the election outcome as Nizamabad, along with Karimnagar, records the highest number of Gulf migrants. A demand for setting up a `5,000-crore corpus fund to deal with the problems of Gulf migrants has been doing the rounds for quite sometime now.
Another major issue that needs immediate attention is that of creating more employment opportunities locally to prevent further migration.
The caste equation is also likely to impact the results in the constituency. Votes of minorities and Manuru Kapus will play a crucial role in deciding the final result.
Issues related to beedi workers and irrigation facilities also need to be addressed. The quick completion of the Nizamabad railway line also needs to be looked into.
Assembly segments in the constituency are: Armu, Bodhan, Nizamabad (Urban), Nizamabad (Rural), Balkonda, Koratla, Jagtial.
