HYDERABAD: Governor E S L Narasimhan on Thursday invited TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao to form the government in Telangana state. KCR would take oath as Chief Minister at 8.15 am on June 2, the Appointed Day for the creation of the 29th state of the country at a ceremony in Raj Bhavan.

Party senior leaders E Rajendar, Jupalli Krishna Rao, KCR’s son K Taraka Rama Rao and nephew Harish Rao are tipped to be inducted into the cabinet.

The Governor had invited KCR to form the government as per a letter given by TRS MLAs on May 18 that they have elected KCR as the leader of the TRS Legislature Party. The TRS has secured majority in the recent Assembly elections by bagging 63 out of the 119 seats in Telangana.

According to a Raj Bhavan communique, the President is being addressed separately for revocation of the Presidential proclamation. Narasimhan was on Wednesday given the  additional charge of the proposed state of Telangana.

On June 2, KCR would first lay a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial to commemorate those who laid down their lives in separate statehood agitations and then drive straight to Raj Bhavan for the swearing-in at 8.15 am. After taking oath, KCR would go to the State Secretariat to assume office around 12.50 pm. He is then expected to hold the first Cabinet meeting. Later, he would leave for the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad where he would unfurl the national tricolour, take the salute and review a parade marking the state formation day. Thereafter, the Chief Minister would deliver his inaugural address.

Arrangements are on for the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at the Parade Grounds. Security would be beefed up at the Gun Park as well.
