TG Genco, Transco Created, to be Functional from June 2

All functions of AP Transco in T will be transferred to TG Genco and panel for power purchase fot T State will be set up

HYDERABAD: Genco, the power generation company, and Transco, the transmission company, were created on Thursday for the new Telangana state and the two entities will start functioning from June 2.

Accordingly, the assets, liabilities, staff and coal blocks are allocated to TG Genco and TG Transco.

Orders to this effect were issued on Thursday.

All the functions currently being carried out by AP Transco in the  Telangana region shall stand transferred to TG Transco. For Telangana state, a separate power purchase committee will be set up. Likewise, all the functions being carried out by AP Genco in  Telangana shall stand transferred to TG Genco from June 2.

Mineable reserves are 450 million tonnes and end-use projects are identified as 3x800 MW units at Srikakulam and 5x800 MW units at Vodarevu at the time of allocation.

The said units are not yet grounded and hence, the mineable reserves may be allocated to both the states as per the ratio 58.32:41.68 to APGenco & TG Genco to both the states and necessary request may be made to the ministry of coal for change of end-use projects by the successor entities, said the orders issued by spepcial chief secretary (energy) SK Joshi on Thursday.
