New Bridge on Godavari

KHAMMAM: The long-cherished dream of the people of three mandals in this district bordering Chhattisgarh for a short route between their mandals and Hyderbad and between their mandals and Chhattisgarh will fructify in September next year with the inauguration of the 1.80- km-long road bridge on Godavari River between Pusur village of Bhadrachalam division in Khammam district and Mullagatta village in Eturunagaram mandal of Warangal district.

Disclosing this to Express here on Tuesday, National Highways Authority Chief Engineer I Ganapathi Reddy said that construction of the bridge had begun in December 2012 at an estimated cost of Rs 218 cr.

Stating that the bridge was taken up under the left wing extremism containment scheme of the Centre, he added that out of the 45 propsoed pillars, 44 had been erected and 12 slabs had been put in place.
