Brahmotsavam Enters Eighth Day

TIRUPATI: On the penultimate day (eighth day) morning Goddess Padmavathi as ‘Sarva Swatantra Vara Lakshmi’ taken out for a pleasure ride on the four mada streets encircling the shrine at Tiruchanoor on Wednesday.

The Goddess, who was dressed in pearl garments, was seated on the fully decorated mighty wooden chariot. The unique name ‘Sarva Swatantra Vara Lakshmi’ signifies that Goddess Padmavathi is the Supreme deity who can execute Her royal duties with aplomb even in the absence of the Lord. Her chief duty is to bless Her devotees to live in prosperity forever.

Tiruchanoor is flooded with devotees who thronged to witness the chariot procession of the Goddess. Devotees competed with each other to take a chance to pull the chariot.

The TTD has made elaborate security arrangements with vigilance sleuths, police and volunteers to see that no untoward incident takes place during  the mammoth chariot procession.

The Ratharohanam ritual was observed in Tula Lagnam between 5.40 am to 6 am, while the car dragging began by 7.10 am and lasted for nearly four hours.
