VISAKHAPATNAM: Now, one can pay their electricity bills and know the power supply position at their finger tips, literally. To offer better customer services on the go, the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) is all set to launch a mobile app for its customers in the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, before Dasara.
People can access a range of services offered by the power discom through the app without requiring to stand in serpentine queues or logging into the website. A safe and secure way of transacting for bill payments is also being embedded in the app. The consumers could utilise the app by downloading it on their smartphone and registering themselves. The present reading besides 10 months of their previous bill particulars can be obtained through the bill history facility.
The customers can also calculate their bills in category-I and category-II, according to their present meter reading (including energy charges, fixed charges, customer charges and electricity duty charges on realtime basis) using the app. Consumer service and supply position particulars will also be included in the app. An energy calculator has also been developed in the App to measure units of energy taken by various electric appliances in different timings. With the help of the app one can find what documents are required for new service. If one could not obtain new connection for any reason, the applicant can track the status of his/her application and take up the issue with the authorities concerned. It could also help trace out their Spandana petitions.
The app is being developed by in-house IT staff of the APEPDCL for the benefit of 52 lakh consumers.
Naming Contest:
EPDCL chairman and managing director R Mutyala Raju stated that the new mobile app was being launched to give faster and better services to the company’s customers. In a bid to involve public in popularising the app, the EPDCL authorities are now seeking people’s help in naming the new mobile app with a promise of special gifts. The CMD has requested public to suggest a good name for the app and win Rs 5,000 cash prize, a solar lantern and a solar fan.
People can suggest the app’s name through SMS from their mobile with their name to APEPDCL on cell phone number 9440816373 on or before August 31.
