VIJAYAWADA: Stamp papers will be sold at Post Offices soon. The Stamps and Registration department has signed an agreement with the Department of Posts to this effect. This means that non-judicial stamp papers, which, at present, are sold by licensed vendors will henceforth be available at post offices. The postal department too will stand to gain since it would earn commission on sale of the stamp papers.

Among other new initiatives his department has taken included making it mandatory mentioning of Aadhaar number in documents at the time of registration to prevent fraud.

This will facilitate validation of the documents at the State Resident Data Hub, Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, who is also Revenue Minister, said at a news conference here on Tuesday. Also, facilities available include issue of encumbrance certificates without any mistakes as at the time of registration, people could make changes using the facility of online public data entry. The people could also pay registration fee through net-banking from anywhere. Another important initiative was to book a time slot for registering property so that valuable time of those who come for registration is not wasted in waiting.

The deputy chief minister said that ‘anywhere registration’ was proving to be quite useful for the NR’s who could do registration at the sub-registrar’s office close to the location of their property even from abroad.

The facility was introduced on February 21 and so far 35,150 documents have been registered which is about 10 per cent of the registrations done so far.

East Godavari district tops in ‘anywhere registration’ facility claiming a share of 20 per cent of the total registrations done so far.

The registration department has issued orders for introducing e-stamping facility which would facilitate payment of stamp duty faster. This will be an alternative to the challan system in force now. The e-Stamping facility is meant for payment of fee more than Rs1,000

The minister said that the registration department has contributed Rs2,362 crore till November to the state exchequer as against a target of Rs2,257 crore for the period. For the entire year of 2015-16, the target is Rs3,500 crore.
