With Infrastructure, Narasaraopet Likely to Turn Dist

GUNTUR: Once the State government decides to increase the number of districts from 13 to 25, Narasaraopet town in all likelihood is sure to get the nod. AP Legislative Assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, who started his political career from Narasaraopet is playing a crucial role in the ongoing arrangements for the centenary celebrations, set to begin on December 11, said: “The town has all the required facilities to emerge as district headquarters and proposals to this effect had been sent already.”

Though, the demand regarding the enhancement of number of districts from the present 13 to 25,of every Parliamentary constituency as a district headquarters, in the state, lying in cold storage with the state government not giving any clarity over the same, leaders of Guntur district are still hoping that the government would take a favourable decision to raise the number of districts.

Residents of the town are confident that their city would get the nod if and when it comes, as Narasaraopet is the entry point to Palnadu area. Apart from having road and train connectivity, the town has all other required infrastructure in terms of educational institutions and also major trading centre.

In addition to the existing facilities, the town will also house the Guntur Rural SP office as a foundation stone for the construction would be laid during the centenary celebrations. As of now, the Guntur rural SP office is situated in Guntur and the same would be shifted to Narasaraopet, once the construction works of the building will be taken up at an estimated cost of `20 crore.

Sivaprasada Rao announced to set up a land bank for giving the same for construction of government offices.
