VIJAYAWADA: Gone are the days when one had to worry about the arrangements for functions like weddings and birthday and other parties. Apart from booking the best venue for the event, they had to make arrangements for serving food for the guests, for floral and other decorations. Now they can entrust all the work to the professional event managers or wedding planners and enjoy the event without fretting and fuming as in the past.
Nowadays, the demand for professional event managers (or planners), who are innovative, has increased and most of the people are approaching them to make the event special and memorable. “Unlike in the past, people are shelling out big bucks for their birthday parties and wedding ceremonies. This is the new trend that we are seeing in the city over the past two years,” said P Sudharshan, a wedding planner and founder of Rainbow Events 7, in the city.
The style of a child’s first year birthday party has changed with the entry of these event organisers. In the past, a birthday party was usually marked by cake-cutting, presentation of gifts and conveyance of greetings. But now the event managers have made them exciting with the inclusion of games and magic shows in the celebrations. “We wanted every little thing from the venue to the decorations to the food to be the best for our daughter’s first birthday. It was the most memorable moment for us,” said MVV Satyanarayana, a businessman from the city.
The event managers charge amounts ranging from `25,000 to `2 lakh for birthday parties depending on the theme with either balloon decorations or cartoon characters and many others and the package also includes food, magic shows and ‘return gift’ items.
“We decorate the stage depending on the choice of the customers and arrange special attractions to make it more memorable within their budget. Every month, we receive orders to organise more than seven birthday parties and most of them are in the range of `20,000 to `1 lakh,” Sudharshan said.
As for the weddings, nowadays most of the young couples are urging the event managers to make it stylish. “Mostly, they prefer wedding planners to organise the event befitting their social status and also to reduce the high stress levels in arranging things themselves due to lack of time. The package range starts from `4 lakh and goes up to `1 cr depending on the theme. Most of them get influenced by the current trends and and select any one of them as a theme. Our speciality is to make each event beautiful according to their culture and traditions,” said D Jaidurga, director of Aicaevents in Vijayawada.
Most often the bride and the groom present their ideas to the event managers and wedding planners who build the theme around it. P Sri Valli, who is getting married in a month, opines: “The marriage/wedding is the most memorable event in everyone’s life and everyone wants it to be the best.
I am using the services of a city-based wedding planner because he/she makes the bash memorable and also executes ideas in an innovative way.”
