Police to Adopt Naxal-affected Village

NIZAMABAD: District police administration has decided to adopt Manala village at Kammarpally mandal  in the district, which was once a stronghold of CPI Maoists, to help the village achieve overall development according to national development indicators.

The district police prepared an action plan to provide transport connectivity to all backward villages dominated by Left sponsored extremist organisations.  Police officials hope that very soon, the  respective departments would approve the action plan and take up road connectivity works in several backward villages of the district.

Leading by Example

After formation of Telangana State, the  police department has decided to maintain law and order by involving all communities and as a part of it, the district police administration has decided to play a key role in the government’s village/town level community-based programmes.

The police personnel have been inspiring the villagers by actively taking part in the Central government’s prestigious programme Swachh Bharat and State government’s ongoing programme Mission Kakatiya. The police department extended its services in selected towns and villages. Now, the district police have decided to adopt Manala village of Kammarpally mandal situated on the borders of Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts.

The police officials visiting Manala village which was situated on the hilltop after a long gap had become a point of discussion among the villagers.

Police organised a free medical camp on Sunday. Doctors, including specialists, from Nizamabad and Hyderabad took part in the medical camp and treated about 600 people. The police department also distributed sports kits to youth.  Addressing a meeting, SP S Chandrasekhar Reddy said they would adopt Manala village and would organise several welfare and development activities in coordination with other State and Central government departments.

As the Army is holding recruitment rallies in several places in the State, the SP hoped that educated unemployed youth from backward areas would utilise the chance to get jobs in Army. 

He said they would give special training to youth from backward and extremist-affected areas to get jobs in CRPF, BSF and other security wings.

He recalled that due to the CPI Maoist activities in the district, large number of families have become victims of the extremist activities. “Now the State government is pursuing plans to sanction additional financial support to all the victims,” he said adding they would send a report to the State government through the district collector to see that all the victims would get additional financial assistance from the government.

He urged the people to cooperate with government to achieve all kinds of development.
