HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Parliament member JC Diwakar Reddy on Tuesday moved the Hyderabad High Court with a plea to declare the decision of imposing flying ban on him by all the major domestic airlines in the country as illegal.

Imposing ban without issue of notice to him and without any enquiry was unlawful and unconstitutional, he said while seeking directions to the airline authorities to permit him to fly in their flights.

Referring to the incident of his alleged misbehaviour with the Indigo airlines staff at Visakhapatnam airport on June 16 this year, Reddy termed it as a ‘trivial incident which was given wrong color’ and blamed the airlines staff for not giving him boarding pass even though he had come well within time. They could have filed a case if he had misbehaved with them, he said.

Further, Reddy submitted that he was given boarding pass following the intervention of the ministry of civil aviation. Again on July 9, he was prevented from entering into a Truejet airline at Hyderabad airport. In fact, there were no other alternative modes of transport due to health reasons at this advanced stage, he noted.

Ministry of Civil Aviation, DGCA, Air India, Jet Airways, Air Asia, Spice Jet, Turbo Megha Airways, Vistara Airlines (Indigo) and GoAir were named as the respondents.

It’s illegal, says MP
