

GUNTUR: Electrification of 165 km railway line between Nallapadu and Cumbum has been completed.
According to sources, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has issued an order permitting introduction of passenger trains between Nallapadu and Cumbum after inspecting the railway line electrification project.
The electrification of Nallapadu - Cumbum - Diguvametta - Dhone - Guntakal rail line project was sanctioned in 2012-13. The total cost of the 426 km railway line electrification project was estimated at Rs 363.32 crore. A sum of Rs 261.46 crore has been spent so far on electrification of Nallapadu - Diguvametta section.
The electrification of the railway line will help save diesel costs, besides curbing pollution. South Central Railway General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav has ensured timely completion of the electrification of the railway line between Nallapadu and Cumbum by reviewing its progress regularly.
