NELLORE: Kovur police nabbed the most wanted psycho who had given sleepless nights to the people of Nellore and Chittoor districts. Indla Suribabu alias Suri (42) was apprehended on Thursday evening.
Addressing the media on Friday, Nellore Rural DSP KV Raghava Reddy said that Suri, who hails from Gandhi Girijana Colony in Venkateswarapuram, currently residing in Nagulakatta in Kovur, was a habitual offender.

The Rural DSP said that Suri was involved in rape, chain snatching and theft cases in Nellore and Chittoor districts. “He had worked as an auto driver in 2014 and committed offences for easy money and satisfying his carnal desires. As many as 51 cases have been registered against Suri in Nellore City, Nellore  Rural, Kovur, Butchireddypalem, Gudur and Naidupeta police stations in the district,” Raghava Reddy said.

The DSP said that cases were also registered against him in Tirupati, Srikalahasti, MR Palli and Alipiri police stations in Chittoor district.  “Suri was imprisoned up to 11 months in a case filed against him in Tirupati earlier and he was lodged in Chittoor and Kadapa jails. The accused used to target women who were alone at home. He would rob women of their gold ornaments after committing sexual atrocity against them,” the DSP said.

He said that majority of the victims had not come forward to lodge a complaint against the attacks of the psycho. “On March 1, Suri raped a 55-year-old woman in Mangalavari Street and left the house wrapped in a towel leaving his clothes behind. He attacked another woman at Abothammavari Street in Kovur, the following morning, and fled after hitting her with a rod when residents reached the house on hearing her screams. He also tried to attack a young girl who was cleaning in front of her house on March 2. He had also stolen `6,000 cash,” the DSP said.

Raghava Reddy said that they had formed special teams to nab the psycho and finally arrested him at his house on Thursday evening. He said that the SP had announced rewards to the police personnel who investigated the case. Kovur Circle Inspector I Venkateswar Reddy, SI A Venkatrao and Sangam SI G Venu were also present.
