VIJAYAWADA: Ahead of the commencement of the monsoon session of Parliament, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has shot off a letter to the heads all the non-BJP and non-Congress parties seeking support to the TDP’s proposed no-confidence motion against the BJP-led NDA government.

Elaborating on the “injustice” done to Andhra Pradesh due to the “inconsistencies” in the implementation of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 (APRA, 2014), Naidu said, “In view of the continued adamant attitude of the BJP-led NDA government, the TDP Parliamentary Party has decided to move a no-confidence motion against the Modi government again in the ensuing monsoon session of Parliament. I shall be thankful for your support in further carrying forward with the no-confidence motion to be moved by our MPs. I seek your cooperation in this regard.”

During the budget session, TDP MPs had repeatedly moved no-confidence notices, which were not taken up due to the din in the House.

In his letter, Naidu observed that it was unfortunate that the NDA government has not even respected its own election manifesto. “The reluctance and disinterest in the implementation of the assurances and promises by the Centre have led to severe hardships to the people of AP,” Naidu said, adding that the no-confidence motion moved by the TDP MPs during the previous session was deliberately ignored. Naidu also attached a six-page annexure to the letter, titled ‘AP Reorganisation Act and Assurances: A Saga of Broken Promises’.

Earlier in the day, TDP MPs YS Chowdary, Nimmala Kistappa, Konakalla Narayana and others met TRS MPs K Keshava Rao and AP Jithender Reddy in Hyderabad seeking their cooperation in the fight against the BJP-led NDA for the implementation of APRA, 2014. Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, former Union minister YS Chowdary said the TRS MPs responded positively. “The TRS leaders had supported us in the previous session and agreed to continue it now. They particularly said that there was a need to correct the anomalies in the APRA, 2014, by moving amendments,” he said.

Keshava Rao said the TRS would support the cause as the issue pertains to both the Telugu-speaking States. However, he clarified that a decision to support the no-confidence motion would be taken after discussing with the party leadership.

It may be recalled that the TDP MPs have divided themselves into six groups to reach out to all the non-BJP and non-Congress party heads before the all-party meeting in Parliament scheduled on Tuesday. The winter session will begin from Wednesday.
