VIJAYAWADA:  Despite initial troubles, the Comprehensive Finance Management System (CFMS) introduced by the State government recently, is yielding the desired results. Officials of the Finance department say that now they have rectified the problems arising in payment of wages to employees and pensions in time which is now embarking on ensuring accountability on all payments. After launching the CFMS in the first week of April this year, officials faced severe criticism from the employees for the last two months as submission of salary bills and their payment got delayed. There were instances of employees getting their wages in the last week of April and May.

However, the officials overcame the initial discontinuity and succeeded in disbursement of wages to all the government employees and pensioners in the first four days of the current month. “We have now rectified the hiccups and completed the process of making payments by June 4 itself. Now, we are on the job of streamlining the flow of finances,’’ an official of the Finance department told TNIE.Stating that there were some hierarchical lapses in some departments where the subordinate employees were reporting to several bosses, the official said that all such errors were now corrected with the CFMS after getting the data of all employees.

What came as a shock to the officials was that they could not trace where the funds of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) of the aided college staff are going. Employees and the government are contributing 10 per cent each for CPS, but we could not reach the source with where the funds are being deposited.
The official said that through CFMS they will be able to generate revenue and expenditure receipts instantly and be able to keep a track the flow of funds in government departments.
