District selection committee notification soon to recruit 10,000 teachers in Andhra Pradesh

As many as 3.97 lakh candidates to appear for AP Teacher Eligibility Test to be held from June 10 to 19 in online mode

VISAKHAPATNAM: HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao announced another district selection committee (DSC) for recruitment of 10,351 teachers. In a meeting held at the Government Circuit House here on Saturday, the Minister said that authorities completed all necessary arrangements for AP Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET), schedule from June 10 to 19 in online mode.

Around 3.97 lakh candidates have applied for the APTET which will be held in two (morning and afternoon) sessions. The TET will be held at 113 centres across the State and candidates from Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are also appearing for TET. “In fact, for the last TET, more than 4 lakh candidates applied and this time a large number of them applied again because the TET score is considered to get DSC posting. Most of the candidates who qualified in the previous APTET have also applied to get better rank and the government will consider the best rank of the two attempts,” said the Minister.

Infra development in govt schools
Ganta also announced that the government would provide infrastructure in all government schools at a cost of `4,858 crore. “We are going to spend `4,858 crore to provide required facilities like additional classrooms, computer labs, library, digital classrooms, compound walls, toilets etc. Students sitting on floor or under the tree shade to write exams will be a thing of the past. We are determined to provide all facilities in government schools,” the Minister promised.

As most of the youth and unemployed youngsters worked hard  to bring the TDP to power in 2014 elections with the slogan of ‘Bring (Chandra) Babu- Get Job’ (Babu vasthe.. Jaabu vasthundi). To keep that promise, we already conducted one DSC and TET and completed the recruitment process. Now, we have decided to provide another chance to the unemployed youth by announcing another DSC notification soon,” the Minister explained. ‘If any one faces problem in taking TET, they can contact helpline 9505619127, 9505780616,” the Minister advised.

As per the norms of Right to Education Act and considering the student-teacher ratio guidelines, the Education department had identified another 10,351 vacant posts. After getting the Finance department’s approval, we will issue the DSC notification for the recruitment of teachers, he said. “The government will extend the mid-day meal scheme to the poor students in junior colleges from July 1. Textbooks will also be provided in time to all the government students,” said Ganta.
