Andhra Pradesh: NEET counselling at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences from June 25 to July 5

Around 700 seats of the total 1,400 seats in 14 private dental colleges in the State will  be filled under the A category.

VIJAYAWADA: The counselling for the candidates qualified in the NEET UG 2018 from Andhra Pradesh will be held at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) here from June 25 to July 5, said university Vice-Chancellor CV Rao on Wednesday.

The Vice-Chancellor announced the State ranks for NEET UG 2018 at the university here. Candidates can download the list from the official website ntruhs.ap.nic.in. This year the MBBS aspirants may feel the pinch as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has refused renewal sanctions to four colleges in the State for the 2018-19 academic year, Nearly 82 medical colleges in the country were denied permission by the ministry, blocking 11,800 medical seats nationwide. As many as 54,246 candidates from Andhra Pradesh appeared for the examination in which 39,051 qualified.

A Anirudh Babu from Srikakulam, who has secured 8th All-India rank in NEET 2018, topped the rankings in the State. O Venkata Sai Harsha Vardhan Reddy stood second in the State by securing 14th rank in the unreserved category. M Jaideep bagged the third place in the State, followed by K Sri Harsha (fourth) and V Ravi Kiran (fifth). Addressing a press conference, Rao said that State has a total of 1,900 MBBS seats in various government colleges, of which 283 seats (15 per cent) will be filled under the national pool and 23 seats by Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women under NRI quota.

Remaining 1,594 seats will be filled in the counselling scheduled to be held from June 25. As many as 2,050 seats are available in the private medical colleges in the State and 100 seats in minority colleges.  As many as 1,025 of these seats will be filled under the convener quota. In the BDS category, 140 seats are are available in two government dental colleges in Vijayawada and Kadapa, of which 21 seats will be filled under the national pool.
