KURNOOL: Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari has called upon women to create a protective wall around themselves with their culture, traditions and social system in the wake of rise in atrocities in the country in recent times.

She addressed an awareness programme on ‘Mahila Bhadrata - Andari Badhyata’ organised by Kurnool police at Sunayana Auditorium here on Saturday. She exhorted women to use their self-strength without waiting for others help in a difficult situation. “There is no safety for both women and men now. Do not fall prey to temporary and momentary things in life. One should change their lifestyle to lead a secure life.” She urged women not to get addicted to use of cell phones, social media and TV serials. There is a need for protection of every woman. They should be made self-reliant in all aspects for the growth of society, Rajakumari added.

She further said that the government had introduced several reforms to safeguard the interests of women. The police department is also making efforts to ensure their safety, she said.

Rajakumari appreciated the efforts of Kurnool police, especially of She Teams, to curb the crime rate in the district and check atrocities against women.

SP Gopinath Jatti, MP TG Venkatesh, MLC KE Prabhakar, MLA SV Mohan Reddy and others were present.
