56 pupils of Gurukul School in Tirupati hospitalised due to viral fever

TIRUPATI: Nearly 56 students of Gurukul School in Satyavedu, Tirupati district, were hospitalised reportedly after suffering from viral fever.

Upon receiving the information, Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav swiftly convened a review meeting with District Collector Dr Venkateswar, Secondary Health Director Dr A Siri, and DCHS Dr Anandamurthy to address the issue urgently.

Currently, 36 students are undergoing treatment at the 50-bed Community Health Centre (CHC) in Satyavedu. Of these, 14 students are suffering from fever. Meanwhile, 20 students have been treated and discharged. Medical examinations, including tests for MP, NS1, CBC, CRP, Serum Bilirubin, and Widal, returned normal results.

The District Collector and District Health Officer, Dr Srihari, confirmed that all students are under close observation.

A dedicated medical team, including pediatricians and general physicians, is working around the clock to ensure the students’ recovery. Provisions for food, water, and other essentials have been arranged, and an emergency 108 ambulance has been stationed in the area due to its remote location.Satya Kumar directed Special Chief Secretary Krishna Babu to oversee the situation and provide hourly updates.

He assured that the health department will continue monitoring the situation, maintaining a patient line list and referral hospital details for proper follow-up.
