VIJAYAWADA: APCC chief YS Sharmila on Thursday slammed YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, questioning his party’s commitment to the Assembly, and terming it ‘insignificant’.
In her remarks, Sharmila said the YSRC, despite winning 11 seats and securing 38% of vote share, failed to fulfil its responsibility by attending the Assembly session, a contrast to the Congress’ approach, which, she noted, has a longstanding legacy predating Jagan’s political career.
She suggested that Jagan reflect on his governance record, accusing him of indulging in corruption, misusing police, and ignoring people’s needs. She refuted the claim that the Congress has no support, contending that the party is now experiencing a revival nationwide.
“If the Congress ruled the State over the past decade, issues like Polavaram completion and special category status would have been resolved long ago,” she observed.
“We have not entered the Assembly because we have no seats. For that, the Congress should not be dismissed totally. Dissatisfied with the YSRC governance, the people voted the TDP to power as they wanted a change,” she said.
Stressing the need to maintain law and order effectively, Sharmila demanded that stern action be taken against social media activists indulged in abuse.
