VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated that his government is committed to uplifting the poor through every decision.
Formally launching the implementation of the P4 (Public-Private-People-Partnership) programme in Mangalagiri of Guntur district on Tuesday, he emphasised that the initiative, aimed at poverty eradication, reflects the ideology of TDP founder and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, viewing the society as a temple, and its people as deities.
The P4 programme, launched on Ugadi day, has identified 13,40,697 Bangaru Kutumbalu (golden families) across the State, with 1,41,977 volunteers adopting them as Margadarshis (guides), he said, underlining the need to reduce economic inequalities in the society.
Informing that there is a total of 1.69 crore families in the State, and 21 lakh poor families need financial aid, he made it clear that there is no force in selection of Margadarshis, and the P4 is purely voluntary.
Do good to society, CM urges people
Mentioning that each one can select his own choice to serve the society, he said an anonymous devotee had donated 121 kg of gold worth `140 crore to Lord Venkateswara Swamy of Tirumala from the wealth generated by his company. “Despite giving such a huge donation, the devotee requested not to disclose his name. In such a way, some people can make their choice of service activities. Serving the poor will give immense pleasure,” he said.
Revealing that he himself is a Margadarshi as he adopted 250 families in his Kuppam Assembly constituency, Naidu said despite being busy in his capacity as the Chief Minister and TDP national president, he will allocate time to the families adopted by him.
He suggested that the Bangaru Kutumbams utilise the handhold being given by Margadarshis for their economic development. Similarly, those getting support from the society should give back to it, he stressed.
Observing that no one is permanent on the earth, the Chief Minister suggested that people show humanity and do good to the society so that they will be remembered after their death.
The Chief Minister announced the launch of the Sanjeevani programme in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, aimed at protecting public health.
