TIRUMALA: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the governing body of the revered Sri Venkateswara temple, has recorded an unprecedented surge in donations for the year 2025, marking a significant recovery in its financial landscape post-Covid-19.
From November 2024 to October 16, 2025, the TTD has received a staggering Rs 918.6 crore donations from devotees. This remarkable surge in donations is attributed to the unwavering faith of devotees, and the TTD’s efforts to enhance pilgrim amenities and streamline darshan experience, as highlighted by TTD Chairman BR Naidu and Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal.
The iconic Hundi collection, a cornerstone of TTD revenue, has seen a dramatic rise. From an average of Rs 2.78 crore per day pre-Covid times, the Hundi collection has soared to Rs 3.92 cr in 2025.
Donations via digital payment touch Rs 579 cr
Despite this upswing, the TTD faced budgetary deficit of Rs 30 crore last year, and Rs 70 crore the previous year. This shortfall had prompted the TTD to come up with new initiatives to increase the pilgrim footfall. The lion’s share of this year’s TTD donations came through the Anna Prasadam Scheme, contributing Rs 338.8 crore, followed by Srivani Donation Darshan Scheme with Rs 252.83 crore.
Other notable donations included Rs 97.98 crore for the Balaji Arogya Vara Prasadini Scheme, Rs 66.53 crore for SV Prana Danam, Rs 56.77 crore for SV Go Samrakshana, Rs 33.77 crore for SV Vidya Danam, Rs 30.22 crore for BIRRD Hospital, Rs 20.46 crore for SV Sarva Sreyas Trust, Rs 13.87 crore for SV Veda Parirakshana, Rs 6.29 crore for SVBC Trust, and Rs 1.52 crore for SVIMS Hospital. A significant trend of this year is the adoption of digital payments, with Rs 579 crore—over 63% of total donations—received through online transactions, aligning with the Government of India’s push for digitalisation.
The remaining Rs 339 crore was collected offline, primarily through DDs and cheques handed over to the TTD Chairman, and Additional EO Venkaiah Chowdary. Beyond monetary contributions, devotees have shown remarkable devotion by donating technical equipment and software, as well as participating in construction projects through part-payments.
The TTD’s 24/7 monitoring and commitment to enhance devotee comfort have been pivotal in attracting huge donations. “The huge donations in 2025 are a record in TTD’s history,” said Naidu and Singhal, reiterating the administration’s commitment to improving pilgrim amenities further.
