AP CM Naidu to rate performance of officials

The Chief Minister said he would conduct surprise inspections during his district visits and assess departmental performance on the ground.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday announced that he would directly communicate the performance of government officials to the public, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability in governance.

Reviewing the functioning of various departments from the RTGS centre at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the performance of officials at all levels would be closely monitored.

He stated that efficient officials would be rewarded, while those failing to meet expectations would be corrected or face action as per rules.

The Chief Minister also said he would conduct surprise inspections during his district visits and assess departmental performance on the ground.

He directed district administrations to actively use social media platforms to counter misinformation and highlight government welfare initiatives and development programmes. The Chief Minister proposed setting up a state-level training centre in Amaravati along with zonal training centres across regions to enhance the skills and performance of government employees.

The Chief Minister also pointed out discrepancies in the issuance of caste certificates and directed officials to rectify errors and prevent misuse. He emphasized the need for greater use of technology in maintaining law and order, including tracking missing persons and identifying anti-social elements, and called for strengthening the CCTV network.

Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad and senior officials from various departments attended the review meeting.
