VIJAYAWADA: Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) has directed all affiliated physiotherapy colleges in Andhra Pradesh to uniformly implement the revised Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) curriculum prepared by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), New Delhi.
The move aims to raise academic standards and equip students with skills aligned to modern medical needs. At an orientation programme held in Vijayawada, NTRUHS Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr P Chandrasekhar and Registrar Dr. T. Sai Sudheer emphasized that the updated syllabus must be adopted across institutions to ensure quality education and practical training.
Dr. Chandrasekhar added that proposals have been sent to the government to introduce BPT courses in state medical colleges, which would expand opportunities for students.
Senior officials including Additional DME (Academic) Dr. V. Radhika Reddy, Controller of Examinations Dr. Ch. Srikanth, and representatives of the State Allied and Healthcare Professions Council joined principals from nearly 70 physiotherapy colleges.
The meeting discussed teaching methods, practical training modules, and strategies for effective implementation, with participants unanimously agreeing to work collectively to deliver high-quality physiotherapy education statewide.
