ONGOLE: NSTR-Giddaluru Deputy Director Nisha Kumari on Tuesday said seven people have been booked for killing a tiger and attempting to sell its claws.
She said five men entered the reserve forest three weeks ago, shot the animal with a country‑made gun, severed its limbs with an axe, aided by two others. The accused confessed, and forensic analysis is underway.
Meanwhile, a high‑level committee led by retired IFS officer P Mallikarjuna Rao visited Birlooti forest in NSTR’s Atmakur division to probe suspicious tiger deaths. The team will inspect reserve areas for two days and submit its findings to the government.
