VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice and Damodaram Sanjeevaiah National Law University (DSNLU) Chancellor Justice Lisa Gill urged women law students to pursue their aspirations without allowing existing barriers to limit their ambitions and encouraged them to strive to become pioneers in their fields.

Justice Gill was interacting with students during her visit to DSNLU on Saturday. She inaugurated the newly constructed girls’ hostel and two conference halls on the university campus before visiting various academic departments.

She advised students to set goals early in their academic journey and work towards achieving them. Responding to a question on the role of women in law, she observed that female representation in the judiciary was increasing. She noted that women accounted for 70% of enrolment in the Punjab and Haryana HC and 65% in several other HCs.

Addressing the challenges faced by first-generation lawyers, Justice Gill said those entering the profession without a background in law could encounter difficulties. “However, dedication and perseverance could help them overcome these hurdles and build successful careers,” she said.
