VIJAYAWADA: Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive job calendar to systematically fill vacancies across all departments under the healthcare ministry.

Reviewing staff strength and recruitment progress during a high-level meeting at the APIIC Health Department headquarters in Mangalagiri on Monday, the Minister emphasised that department heads must work to bring down overall vacancy levels to under 5 per cent as early as possible.

Addressing senior officials from the Directorate of Public Health, Directorate of Medical Education, Directorate of Secondary Health, Food Safety Department, and the Drugs Control Administration, the Minister evaluated current vacancy figures arising from promotions, voluntary resignations, and retirements.

He instructed department heads to conduct a thorough re-assessment to determine exact operational requirements and submit structured recruitment proposals aligned with the proposed job calendar timeline.

Touching upon pending representations and protest calls from certain healthcare employee unions, the Minister instructed officials to initiate formal dialogue with employee representatives to address their demands amicably.

The review meeting was attended by Director of Public Health Dr Padmavathi, Director of Medical Education Dr Vishnuvardhan, Director General of Drugs Control Administration Arun Babu, Director of AYUSH Ronanki Gopalakrishna, and AP SACS Project Director B. Swarna Raj.
