KAKINADU: Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will visit Kakinada on January 17, 2026, to inaugurate a green ammonia plant at AM/NS Green Ammonia India Private Limited (formerly Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited - NFCL). Kakinada District Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav inspected the helipad and other areas along with officials on Tuesday.

The NFCL factory, non-operational for several years, was acquired by AM Green Ammonia India Limited, a subsidiary of the AM Green Group. The new company will launch its green ammonia production.

Originally, the urea plant was owned by the publicly listed Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (NFCL). AM Green Ammonia acquired it in early 2024, with the deal receiving Competition Commission of India (CCI) approval in April 2024. AM Green Ammonia, a subsidiary of the AM Green Group (formerly Greenko ZeroC), is developing one of the world’s largest green ammonia projects in Kakinada. A majority of production will be exported to Europe.

The project aims for a production capacity of 5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of green ammonia by 2030 equivalent to about 1 mmtpa of green hydrogen, representing one-fifth of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission target.

The plant will include a green hydrogen generation unit with electrolysers, an air separation unit, a green ammonia production unit, and associated facilities. It will use pressurised alkaline electrolysers to produce hydrogen by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable power.
