Economic Survey highlights investment reforms of AP and decline in inflation

VIJAYAWADA: Investment reforms of Andhra Pradesh, construction of Capital Amaravati, and reduction in inflation were highlighted in the Economic Survey 2025-26.

It was mentioned that Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala not only enhanced their business environments by integrating sustainability measures but also reduced the time taken for environmental clearances for industries through the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP).

It was noted that Andhra Pradesh, in BRAP 2024, implemented single-window industrial clearances, online land registration, and e-environmental approvals.

Now, Andhra Pradesh has expanded its Online Consent Management & Monitoring System, allowing firms to apply for consent, and track approval digitally, reducing delay and enhancing data transparency between industry and the Pollution Control Board.

With regard to the construction of Capital Amaravati, the Economic Survey mentioned that urban living space needs to be designed from scratch in the greenfield city.

This provides a rare window of opportunity, where growth can still be shaped deliberately, rather than retrofitted after congestion, informality, and service deficits set in.

Tirupati and Vijayawada figured among the top 10 Ease of Living Cities in India. The existing Ease of Living Index by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs defines ease of living by measuring quality of life across the parameters of education, health, housing, water and sanitation, waste management, mobility, safety, and recreation.

Inflation in AP dips to 1.39 pc from 7.57 pc

Notably, the cities in this list are largely newer or tier-2 urban centres that have not yet been subjected to the intense population pressure experienced by Bengaluru, Delhi or Mumbai over the past two decades. They remain ahead of the curve, urbanising, but not yet overwhelmed. Crucially, these cities have already possessed a foundational layer of infrastructure.

Inflation in Andhra Pradesh, which stood at 7.57 in 2022-23, declined to 1.39 in 2025-26 (April-December).

The world-class bulk drug park being coming up in Andhra Pradesh was also highlighted in the survey.

The Economic Survey mentioned the implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Resurvey Project using drones, Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS), and GIS to issue tamper-proof digital land titles. As of 2025, 6,901 villages have been covered, with 81 lakh land parcels resurveyed, and approximately 86,000 boundary disputes have been resolved.
