TIRUPATI: Chief Minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday challenged the YSRCP to an open public debate on the implementation of election promises, asserting that the NDA government has fulfilled its commitments while the previous regime failed to deliver on several key assurances.
Addressing the “Two Years of Trust, Development and Welfare” victory celebrations of NDA in Tirupati, Naidu said not only he but also TDP cadre was prepared for the debate with YSRCP leaders on the implementation of poll promises made in the YSRCP’s 2019 manifesto and the NDA’s 2024 manifesto. “Are you ready for an open discussion anytime and anywhere?” Naidu asked, taking a swipe at the YSRCP, which he repeatedly called the “axe party.”
Launching a sharp attack on the previous YSRCP regime, Naidu accused it of hurting the sentiments of millions of devotees through the alleged adulteration of Tirumala Laddu Prasadam. He alleged that the previous rulers disrespected Lord Venkateswara and compromised the sanctity of Tirumala.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the NDA comprising TDP, JSP and BJP, is committed to development, welfare and justice for all sections of society.
‘NDA rule brought stability, investments & good governance’
He stressed that only governments capable of creating wealth and increasing revenues can effectively implement welfare programmes.
Naidu alleged that the YSRCP regime had failed to honour its promise of prohibition. “A leader who promised to seek votes only after implementing total prohibition failed to do so. Instead, the YSRCP government introduced its own liquor brands and pushed many families into distress,” Naidu said.
Accusing YSRCP of spreading misinformation, he said the opposition was once again attempting to mislead the public through conspiracies and fake news campaigns.
Referring to Amaravati, he asserted that no force could stop the development of the State capital, and remarked that those who had “mortgaged the State” had no right to speak about its future.
Stating that the NDA government inherited a financially distressed State, Naidu said his administration had revived Andhra Pradesh from a crisis. “We supplied oxygen to the State that was on a ventilator,” he remarked.
Highlighting the NDA development initiatives, Naidu said investor confidence had been restored through transparent governance and investor-friendly policies. He noted that approvals for a fifth-generation fighter aircraft project at Puttaparthi were secured within 36 days, and Rayalaseema would emerge as a major horticulture hub.
Reflecting on the NDA government’s two-year rule, Naidu said he had neither become overconfident after the electoral victory nor discouraged by the State’s financial challenges. He reiterated his commitment to transparent governance and said he would continue to place facts before the people.
The Chief Minister also issued a stern warning to elected representatives, stating that misconduct and misuse of power would not be tolerated. “MLAs are not rulers; they are public servants. If any MLA is found indulging in wrongdoing, I am prepared to keep him away from the party. There will be no compromise on discipline and accountability,” Naidu asserted.
Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said the NDA government’s two years in office had become a symbol of stability and responsible governance. He observed that stability was essential for development and noted that investments and financial support had begun flowing back into Andhra Pradesh. He urged youth to actively participate in politics and contribute to leadership at the grassroots level.
HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh alleged that YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy used to claim credit for the development initiatives undertaken by others.
Lokesh also highlighted the coordination between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in securing key projects and investments for the State.
BJP State president PVN Madhav said Andhra Pradesh had witnessed significant development during the NDA government’s two-year rule. He said both the Centre and the State government stood with the families affected by explosion at VSP.
