VIJAYAWADA: Building on the record-breaking success of the Yogandhra initiative, the government is set to institutionalise wellness by constructing permanent Yoga Mandirams in every Swarna Grama and Ward Secretariat across the State. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced it during the Yogandhra 2026 celebrations held in Vijayawada on Sunday.

Furthermore, the Sanjeevani project, which integrates yoga and holistic wellness into the healthcare system, is set for a statewide launch on August 15. Emphasising that the future of AP lies in the fusion of technology and spirituality, Naidu said, “When technology is paired with spirituality, a society becomes ‘unstoppable.’ We want to build a healthy, wealthy, and happy Andhra Pradesh.”

This major vision was unveiled during the International Yoga Day celebrations, marking a historic display of unity. The State-level event at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium saw the Chief Minister perform yoga alongside Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.

1.7 crore participate in Yogandhra at 1.33L centres, setting 2 world records

In a massive milestone for the State’s health mission, over 1.07 crore citizens participated in yoga simultaneously across 1.33 lakh centres, setting two world records.

Recalling the State’s successful yoga initiative in 2025, the Chief Minister noted that the foundations laid during the record-breaking Yogandhra 2025 in Visakhapatnam—which earned two Guinness World Records in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—have now evolved into a broader, year-round movement.

Expressing gratitude to Modi for his global initiative that led to the observance of International Yoga Day in 190 countries, the Chief Minister announced that Andhra Pradesh will host the 2027 celebrations in Tirupati.

The roadmap for Yogandhra includes the appointment of district and mandal-level monitoring officers to supervise programmes, the formation of an expert committee to define standard yoga protocols, and the launch of a dedicated portal for practitioners.

The event concluded with the Chief Minister leading the public in a pledge to act with responsibility for the welfare of society, reinforcing the State’s long-term commitment to preventative healthcare and chemical-free living.

The celebrations also saw the participation of Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, and other dignitaries.

Health Minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav lauded the commitment of the 2.5 lakh instructors who supervised the sessions, and praised the various government departments for ensuring the event’s success, noting that the Andhra Pradesh model continues to serve as an inspiration to other states.
