VIJAYAWADA: A team from IIT Madras has commenced field survey at Uppada coast to prepare the design and Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed coastal protection wall, under the special supervision of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
According to an official release on Sunday, a five-member expert team from IIT Madras has been conducting the survey along the coastline for the past one week using advanced technology, including drones and Trimble R980 GNSS RTK equipment for beach profiling and shoreline mapping.
The project, estimated at `323 crore and funded through the National Disaster Management Fund, aims to provide a long-term solution to coastal erosion affecting Uppada in Pithapuram Assembly segment. The team is studying coastal conditions, wave impact, severity of erosion, changes in landform and directions of sea currents.
