PATNA: The Bihar government has decided to constitute a five-member expert committee to be headed by a serving or retired judge to recommend comprehensive reforms to the state’s examination system and suggest measures to prevent question paper leaks.
Bihar’s General Administration Department (GAD) has issued a notification on Sunday, constituting the “Expert Committee on Examination Reforms”. The move comes barely a month after students’ agitation at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and various parts of Bihar, which resulted in the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan from the union education minister’s post.
The committee has been given three months from the date of its formation to submit its report. As per the notification, the panel will examine the existing institutional structure and infrastructure, define the roles of examination boards and district administrations, and recommend mechanisms in order to fix accountability for lapses at every stage of the examination process.
