NEW DELHI: Residents across multiple sectors in Dwarka on Friday complained of irregular water supply, contaminated water and increasing dependence on private tankers as temperatures continue to rise.
Residents from several areas, including Sectors 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11, and vicinity like Mahavir Enclave and Rajapuri, continued to report severe water shortage issues. While some neighbourhoods received water supply for only a few minutes, residents in other areas claimed they had not received any water for several days.
Many families alleged that they are being forced to wake up before sunrise just to store whatever little water is available. “Water comes for barely 40 minutes around 5 am, which is too early, and the 7 am supply either doesn’t come at all or comes at very low pressure. During summer, a shortage of clean water creates major problems for daily chores and even basic things like bathing,” said Sareeta Devi, a resident of Sector 7, Dwarka.
The water shortage has reportedly increased dependence on private water tankers, especially in residential societies where underground tanks are running dry quickly. Residents claimed that repeated tanker bookings are now adding
financial pressure on middle-class households.
In Mahavir Enclave, residents claimed the situation has worsened over the last few days due to empty overhead tanks and lack of drinking water.
